Lazio Songs and Anthems
You'll soon pick up some of the stadium songs and chants. Particularly touching for the English fan is when
the crowd sings (Italian accents essential) "Blue is the colour/football is the game/SS Lazio/ You'll never
walk alone."
For 2003-2004, the song played at the start of each game is a rather unsingable version of the stadium chant Non mollare mai (Never give up). Banners wave and scarves are whirled frantically; it's a thrilling sight.
Bianco e azzurro ่ il tuo colore,
bianco e azzurro Lazio nel cuore
Lazio da sola noi gente laziale
non ti lasceremo mai! oh no, oh no..
E quando qualcuno poi ti ferisce,
hai a fianco la Nord che non tradisce
In alto i cuori, noi in campo con le voci e
Forza Lazio! Forza Lazio! Forza Lazio!
Non mollare mai, non mollare mai,
non mollare mai, non mollare mai.
Forza Lazio al่, forza Lazio al่
Forza Lazio al่, forza Lazio al่!
A Roma la Lazio
C'่ solo la Lazio!
A Roma la Lazio
C'่ solo la Lazio!
etc....
Another anthem played over the speakers, or sung at quiet phases of the game is the epic Inno alla Lazio (scarves are held up). The chorus is:
Lazio grande Lazio
che ce ponno fa'
Tu sei la mejo
E nun ce vonno sta'
Another favourite is the melodic Vola Lazio vola (Fly Lazio, fly), with its lyrical climax of 'Lazio sei grande e te volemo bene' - 'Lazio you're great and we love you.'
Naturally several of the stadium songs are directed at Roma; some of these are genuinely offensive - be warned. There's always time for a quick chorus of the more harmless 'Roma merda', regardless of
who the opposition is.
It is possible to buy from Lazio Point a CD containing Lazio anthems, produced for the club's centenary in 2000: 'Cent'Anni Insieme'.
Gems include Nesta singing 'Lazio Reggae' ("Mi chiamo Alessandro..."), and an English version
of Lazio Grande Lazio.
